Hear about a part of Iowa history that many did not know existed on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 5:30-6:30pm at the Sumner Public Library. Linda Betsinger McCann will speak about her newest book: "Prisoners of War in Iowa”. During WWII there were approximately 25,000 German, Italian and Japanese prisoners of war in Iowa. Algona and Clarinda were the main camps, with 17 branch camps, including one near Waverly.
